Swing Bridge in the Flats

This bridge is different from the other bridges in the Flats. It doesn't go up-and-down to let freight carriers and other boats go through. This one swings to the side. This photo falls short of giving the reader a good idea how it operates.  Behind it is the Detroit-Superior Bridge. It stays where it is.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

This is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the shore of Lake Erie. It is near the football Stadium and Science Center. Former Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed is credited with coining the term "Rock and roll."

The induction ceremonies are still held in New York.  That is a sore point for some Clevelanders.

Muny Light

Muny Light

This use to be Muny Light and is now Cleveland Public Power.  I always thought Muny Light was the building on the other side of the freeway that has been demolished.  In the late 70's, Dennis Kucinich fought to keep this off the sale block.  The banks said they would turn-over notes if the city put it up for sale.  I think there was more to Kucinich's defeat then this. He narrowly avoid being recalled.

West 25th Street

West 25th Street

W. 25th Street, this is an area I use to talk about with my mother.  It seems to be the central business district for people from the lower west side of Cleveland. I would ask my mother if I tried to pass-off some people we know as a person who lives in this area if it would work. She'd tell me "No," because you can tell by the way they act and talk that they don't come from there.  I'd tell her a house in Moreland Hills or a Lexus doesn't change how people view you.

I would discuss this with her when she talked about trying to improve herself. Her idea of self improvement was having a Lexus, having a fur coat, buying new furniture, or moving to another city.

Whiskey Island Marina

Whiskey Island Marina

The sunsets on the marina at Whiskey Island.

Cleveland Browns Stadium

This photograph is another effort by me to out a sunset in a photograph or is it? The sunsets in the opposite direction. Not a bad shot, however.

Why, why, so much sky? The answer is that what is under the bottom of the photo is a parking lot and train tracks. I might go back when the sun is rising and photograph the lower third and then people can see why I shot so much sky.

Squires Castle

Squires Castle

Squires Castle. It was built by Feargus Squire, an executive with the Standard Oil Company for use as a gatekeepers house for his estate that was never built.  It is located in the North Chagrin Reservation that iis part of the Cleveland Metroparks. Looking inside, it is only a shell of what it once was. There are no wooden stairs or an upstairs, just a brick structure. It is located in one of the Meroparks.

The Castle is very popular with   photographers. When I took a photography class a Lakeland Community College, the teacher said that if a student really wants to photograph this building it is okay but he has seen this building photographed inside-and-out.  Squires Castle.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Rock  and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is close to Lake Erie and is near Cleveland's football stadium, and the science museum.  I think the only parking is using metered parking on the streets.  I have never visited the facility. I do not know if there is an admission fee.

Detroit-Superior Bridge

The Detroit-Superior Bridge. A popular sight for photographers. It runs over the Cuyahoga River in

Cleveland, Ohio. The two pictures are quite similar except that a draw-bridge is in the first but not the second.
